Neglect

Neglect e-learning

This neglect training course covers all you need to know to be effective at spotting the signs of neglect. From a definition of neglect, through examples and its effects, you’ll have an all-encompassing view of the subject and how to put your understanding to work.

You’ll discover how other signs, like hunger, lack of hygiene and apathy can be indicators of neglect in a child as well as how to spot types of child abuse.

Who should complete this?

The course is intended for anyone who works with or has contact with children, young people and their families. It’s an ideal online introduction to the topic.

How long does it take?

The course will take about 30 minutes to complete.

 

Neglect: Partnership Workshop

This neglect course is delivered by an experienced instructor and will help you develop knowledge and skills for responding to children and young people experiencing neglect.

By attending, you will:

·       Gain a greater understanding of the impact of neglect on children

·       Consider how to improve outcomes for children and young people who experience neglect

·       Consider best practice in Surrey, including learning from case reviews

·       Be introduced to the NSPCC Graded Care Profile 2 (GCP2) assessment tool

You’ll have the chance to improve partnership working and learn from and with other attendees from across the partnership. If you haven’t had training in this area before, it’s a great opportunity to improve your knowledge and skills and understand more about how GCP2 is used in Surrey before signing up for a full GCP2 workshop.

Who should attend?

This course is intended for anyone who works with children, young people and their families. Those who contribute to safeguarding, supporting, and developing resilience in children and families, including those new to working in Surrey.

How long does it take?

The course is about 2 hours 30 minutes in duration.

 

Graded Care Profile 2

 

An introduction to Neglect and the GCP2 Tool

This is a short video which aims to provide general awareness of the wider issues of neglect, and what the GCP2 assessment and planning tool is. It acts as a basic introduction to these topics, and as appropriate, practitioners should go on to further learning.

Who should watch?

Anyone who wants a basic introduction to these topics before going on to more in-depth learning.

How long does it take?

The video is about 15 minutes long.

 

Graded Care Profile 2 (NSPCC GCP2) Workshop

This 2-day instructor led course will give you a thorough understanding of the GCP2 tool. This tool will support you in measuring the quality of care being given to a child, and help you identify neglect and concerns that are putting that child at risk.

By attending, you will:

·       Understand the background, underpinning theory and purpose of the tool

·       Become licensed to use the tool

·       Learn how to work directly with families using the tool to identify worries and improve outcomes for children and young people

·       Consolidate your knowledge about neglect

·       Know how GCP2 fits in with local practice

·       Understand how to use the tool to improve outcomes for children and young people

Who should attend?

This course is intended for practitioners and managers in the voluntary, independent and statutory sector who work with children, young people and their families. Those who contribute to safeguarding, supporting, and developing resilience in children and families, including those new to working in Surrey.

You will need to attend the Neglect Partnership Workshop or undertake the Neglect e-learning before attending this course.

How long does it take?

The course runs over 2 days: 09:30-16:00 on the 1st day, and 09:30-14:00 on the 2nd day.

 

Graded Care Profile 2 Refresher e-learning

This is a refresher course for those who have completed the full Graded Care Profile 2 Workshop.

The course revisits plans to implement the tool across different levels of need throughout Surrey. It aims to remind practitioners about the scaling and how to best work with families to measure parenting and to develop a plan of action to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Who should watch?

Those who have attended the Graded Care Profile 2 workshop and need a refresher.

How long will it take?

The course will take about 30 minutes to complete.

 

Graded Care Profile 2- using ECINS (e-learning)

This course is for practitioners who have already completed the Graded Care Profile 2 Workshop. The course takes the form of an instructional video refresher talking through how to use ECINS to input GCP2 assessments.

Who should watch?

Those who have attended the Graded Care Profile 2 workshop and need a refresher on using ECINS.

How long will it take?

The video is about 30 minutes long.
